Regarding verse 24 of Surah Yusuf, particularly the terms "hamm" (inclination) and "burhan" (proof), there exist various interpretations, some of which are inconsistent with the status and rank of Prophet Yusuf (Joseph), peace be upon him. This article aims to defend the infallibility of Yusuf (PBUH) by providing a sound interpretation of these two terms based on rational arguments, Quranic evidence, traditions, lexicons, and a critical analysis of diverse views. It posits that Yusuf’s "hamm" refers to an involuntary emotional reaction, which was precluded by witnessing the "burhan." The "burhan" is interpreted as the divine protection granted to Yusuf due to his prophethood, enabling him to attain knowledge that prevented any inclination toward sin. A comparison of this interpretation with the Torah reveals no inherent contradictions between the two texts, although the content in the Talmud is identified as a source of certain Isra'iliyyat (Israelite narrations) on this subject. .
